Education Advocate
Don't let your child fall through the cracks
Pro Family Advocate provides an ecological approach to insuring a students success in school. We work on behalf of families to examine factors in the home, school and/or community that may impacting a students educational success and assist in reducing those barriers to learning. Some barriers may include truancy, pregnancy, alcohol and/or drug use, violence, suicide ,child abuse and neglect, economic factors, behavioral difficulties, social competency, divorce, defiance, mental health concerns and learning difficulties. We support parents and help them understand their child's development and educational needs . We work collectively with the family, student , school and community to address and solve external and internal needs that impact the school climate, student learning and their success.
We will advocate for your child and help you understand the special education services that your child is entitled to so you feel informed and empowered. You are and always will be your child's best advocate!
- We will represent the best interests of the student in the educational process.
- We will inform parents of their rights and suggest appropriate special education services and programs to meet the student's individual needs.
- We will help you prepare for the IEP program meeting - including propose goals and objectives, review supportive evidence and materials, help put concerns and requests in writing, and provide strategies for the IEP meeting.
- Before and after an IEP, we will review special education and section 504 documents, including student files, evaluation assessment reports, IEPs and Section 504 Plans.
- We will accompany parents to IEP, Section 504, and other school meetings and provide advice and assistance as needed throughout the IEP process.
- We will review IEP or 504 documents before you sign them.
- If needed we will draft letters and written requests to school and district personnel and draft complaints to school districts and the State Department of Education.
- As an Education Advocate we can help you get your concerns heard by the district and help you resolve a dispute.
